As a nail tech, it is a great sign when you see clients coming back to your salon and filling up your appointment book. This is a sign of success because you do not have to go anywhere to look for clients anymore. We all remember and know how hard it is when we first started out and have to look for clients one by one. It is easy to have new clients come to you and get their nails done, but it is much more harder to keep the clients and have them continue to come back to your salon. We have gathered some cool tips for you to check out and improve your business.

1) Have a clean environment. Make sure your surroundings are clean. For example make sure there are no nail clippings and other trash on the floor,

2) Always impress your client with sterile tools. Clients pay attention to many things. For example the tip cutter you use, was it sterilzed before use on the client.

3) Don’t be cheap and reuse your tools. Make sure that you use a new nail file for every person. Or if a file was dropped on the floor, use a new nail file.

4) Give out your business card. After the first appointment, give the client an appointment card, as to when will be there next appointment

5) Become friend with your client. Ask the client when their birthday is. On that day give them a small gift, such as a nail file.

6) Always be happy and greet your client with a smile. And last of all, make sure that the clients are greeted with a smile.

What we have here is a case of brittle nails that a nail tech is facing and the solution is presented to resolve this issue.

Problem:

“I have been a nail technician for three years, and I have a terrible problem with my own nails. They are extremely thin, and they peel, chip, and never grow past the end of my finger. I have applied acrylic to my nails because they are in such terrible shape; I don’t want my clients to see what they really look like. In trying to take care of this, I wear gloves with every client, and I take a good daily vitamin with extra calcium. My nails are so thin they sometimes hurt, and the end of the nail beds are red. One contributing factor might be my severe back problem; I had surgery four years ago, and it still acts up. I am always on medication (Flexelil, Darvocet, Indocin, and water pills). When I am wearing acrylics, they constantly lift and my own nail plates seem to pull away from the nail bed. The nails appear to have fungus when actually they don’t. What is causing this, and what can I do to fix my nails?“

Solution:
It is a brittle nail syndrome. Nails in this condition tend to be thin, peel, chip, and crack, as yours do. In addition, they fail to grow to a significant length. This is due to dehydration of the mill plate and is much like having “dry skin of the nails.” Wearing gloves is an excellent idea, as is taking a multi-vitamin with minerals. A good biotin supplement may be helpful. Also, it is advisable to keep your mills well-moisturized.

There are many causes of brittle nail syndrome, particularly if your nail beds hurt and are red. You ought to consider that it might be an allergic reaction to a nail product. I would not recommend the use of acrylics because this can surely aggravate the problem. The lifting up of the nail plates from the nail bed could be due to excess moisture accumulation or an allergic reaction. I do not believe a direct link exists with your back problem, although a few medical disorders may result in brittle nails, such as an underactive thyroid, for example. A careful evaluation of your general health would be a very good idea.

There are always something new that you can add to your nail service. The polish on gel coat is another invention that will help keep your nails looking new and shinning. The benefits of using polish on gel nails are listed below.

1. This is the perfect product for clients who want their manicure to last weeks. It’s a perfect up-sell to polish customers who are looking for longer-lasting color, but make sure you tell them the cost of your new service beforehand because there is a significant price difference.

2. In offering this new product, your prices must be reasonable for you. Factoring in the higher cost for brush-on gel polishes, the UV nail lamp, extra acetone, and the extra week between client visits, your new gel polish service should range from $37 to $45. Any gel polish service price below this will not benefit you (or the nail industry) in the long run.

3. Don’t display these bottles the way you would polish. Leaving these bottles out in the sun or near other UV light sources will reduce the shelf-life of your product since they are UV-reactive. (If you are wondering whether UV nail lamps are safe, check out the article on page 24 about a new study that says they are.)

4. Remember to practice. Although the formula is similar to gel and polish, it has a different consistency that, when applied incorrectly, will lift or chip. Make sure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions and practice on yourself, family, and friends until you’re fully comfortable with the product before offering it to clients.

Know the products and practice it well and begin the marketing process. Add window or sidewalk signs, update your website, and let every client who comes in know that you now offer brush-on gel polish services. Keeping up with the trends will help you bring in more customers and give you an upper hand on the competition. Don’t forget to update me on how the brush-on gel polishes work for you!

This causes increased friction and results in redness, swelling, and pain,” says Dr. Krista Archer, a podiatric surgeon and foot specialist. “Squeezing feet, already aching from bunions and hammertoes, into high heels can bring on agony and put a real damper on a festive event.”

Some simple steps that could help you lessen your pain, while you are on a night out with your friends and family.

-Use another alternative and bring a second pair of shoe The trick to wearing high heels comfortably is to limit your constant standing time in them to no more than four hours. Bring along a pair of comfy flats you can discreetly slip into to give feet a rest.

-Put cushion and Padding around your soles. Shoe pads are available in different shapes. Depending on your symptoms, these pads are applied to the inside of your high heels. If you have been experiencing ball of foot pain for years, you may have fat pad breakdown. This can be treated with an injectable filler to plump up and pad from within.

-Put cushion and Padding around the toes. If bunions and the tops of your toes get very red after high heel wearing, you can buy toe pads to either stick onto or slip over the painful area. Keep in mind the thinner the better, as you don’t want to tighten the shoe further. A prescription patch is also available. It is lined with numbing medicine (Lidoderm) that can be cut to specific shapes and applied to painful areas.

-Prepare your feet in advance. Decrease inflammation and swelling. Before you go out to your party, soak your feet in icy-cold water for 10-15 minutes. Follow this with elevating your legs and feet for 20 minutes. This strategy will reduce foot and leg swelling and calm painful and irritated joints. Ibuprofen can also reduce pain and inflammation, but use caution if consuming alcohol. Also try compression hosiery to reduce swelling and keep feet from getting more swollen over the course of a party.

Learn to take care of your feet and they will certainly be happy! happy feet!
